Here’s a not-so-fun fact:
Women buy most of the wine in the U.S., but we make (and own) shockingly little of it.
Nearly 60% of American wine buyers are women, yet:
Less than 15% of Master Sommeliers in the U.S. are women.
The math is not mathing.
This is especially top of mind for me as I ride the high from my latest women & wine event in NYC, filled with badass women and women-made wines.

So this week, we’re pouring ourselves a glass and digging into this:
Pour Decisions
Where are all the women in wine?
Even in restaurants, where most of the servers are women, the sommelier with the wine list (and the pay bump) is usually a man.
The wine industry is also no stranger to it’s own Me Too reckoning, including a massive sexual harassment scandal in one of its most elite institutions.
Unfortunately, this isn’t unique to wine.
There’s industries like beauty and fashion, where women are the primary consumers but men are still calling the shots.
Once again, men are running the industries that rely on dollars from women. They are making the decisions on what we “should” wear, look like, and drink.
(Anyone else watch the Hulu documentary on Victoria’s Secret that came out a few years ago?)
This is one of the reasons why I started Merobebe:
To celebrate women in wine, and help the industry look a little more like the people who actually drink it.
So here’s my challenge to you:
As you’re stocking up on bottles this holiday season, buy from women.
Why?
Because women winemakers and owners are more likely to:
Prioritize sustainability
Reinvest back into their communities.
Care about ethical labor and environmental impact
Plus, it tastes a little bit better…I swear! 😌
Need help?
I’ve dropped a list below of some women producers you can shop from online (and obviously, I got you a discount.)
Sip Happens
Last week, I hosted our 2025 Wrap Party in NYC, and it was everything I hoped for and more.
The wines? All organic, small-production, and made by women.
The pairings? Thoughtfully curated by a woman chef.
The room? Filled with kind, inspiring women.
Here’s what a couple guests told me after:
“This was a vibe that only strong, smart women with a vision can create – and all they do is show up and be who they are.”
“The women who show up are the types who are curious, inspirational, diverse, and ready to take leaps in their careers and lives.”
There’s just something about what happens when women come together that can’t be beat. It’s this rare blend of curiosity, generosity, and genuine support.
A glass broke? Someone was instantly on it (thank you, Indra!). A woman needed advice? People listened and supported with zero ego. There was lots of laughter all night.
How do I bottle that energy?!
Because yes, the wine was great. But that energy? That’s what I want more of next year!
And that starts with us.
You might have seen the viral stat:
if every adult spent just $40 at a small business instead of Amazon this holiday season, it would inject millions back into our communities.
I haven’t checked the math on this...
but it is true that money spent at local businesses gets recirculated within those communities. On the other hand, money spent at national chains goes towards their corporate HQs and out-of-state vendors.
(And we all know that every dollar spent on Amazon goes towards fueling Jeff Bezos’ penis-shaped rocket ship…)
Here’s what happens when we put our dollars towards women:
But quitting Amazon can be hard…so what’s a gal to do?
You don’t have to cancel Amazon completely (I haven’t yet). But what if we each made a few more intentional purchases that support women?
Because when women get paid, we give back.
So, as promised, here are the wines and olive oils I served at last week’s event. They’re 100% organic, Italian, and made, owned, and imported by women.
(No, I don’t make a dime if you buy them. I just really believe in supporting women who are doing amazing things, and I want to share the good stuff with you!)

So skip funding Jeff Bezos’ rocket ship and fund a woman instead.
She’ll take you way further. 🚀
Cheers,

P.S. If you have a go-to woman-owned biz you love, whether it’s candles, ceramics, or cookies, send them my way! I’m always looking for more women to support 💪🏼
